Domestic violence can begin at any stage of relationship in heterosexual and same sex relationships and may continue after the relationship has ended. It happens in heterosexual and same sex relationships.
Domestic violence can be physical, emotional or psychological. Whatever form it takes, it is all about control.
When domestic violence is happening, people may suffer on many levels – health, housing and education, and lose the freedom to live their lives how they want to, without fear and anxiety.
